Great post, Brett. I'm currently in Buenos Aires and posted about joining a gym here, too. There's some updated info that might help out people who end up on your page looking for more info and guidance: http://taraandkarinagoout.com/2010/12/09/joining-a-gym-in-buenos-aires/

Same thing happened to me, and coke seemed to help. I too looked straight to the Internet and everone says bread but coke worked for me too. Was a horrible experience actually very scarey I was at a wedding and didn't want to make a scene so was in the toilet with my fingers down my throat trying anything to move it! Didn't see anything on net about fizzy drinks was just a fluke that I chose it, spread the word fizzy drinks for fish bone trauma!!

Got one stuck in my throat last week. I was pretty scared. I went to sleep and the next morning it was still there in the back of my throat. Tried a swallowing technique as follows. Swallow but don' t keep your throat open and try pushing the back of your throat forward. After a few minutes of trying this, the muscles in my throat pushed the bone out onto my tongue and i was able to spit it out. If that had not worked, I would have gone to the doc to have it removed. Luckily, the bone was lodged fairly high up in the back of my throat and this muscle contracting technique worked.

Hi Michael. I think that the closest crossfit to Edinburgh is crossfit fife. I don't think that there's too many places where they'll be keen on vomit or worse!

Hi Brett, I just stumbled across this page on one of my many short layovers to the UK due to the Volcanic activity in Iceland. Do you know of any crossfit gyms in Edinburgh? I have been doing crossfit for a while now i suppose so i can use what i find in gyms but an environment where it only crossfit people is more encouraging to risk vomiting or loosing control of bodily functions if you knwo what i mean. Any info will be useful

Hi Angela,
Unfortunately I'm not in Argentina any longer - I'm working in New Zealand (sigh). With the pricing, it does seem to depend on who you get on the day, and how well you can make yourself understood - if you can speak fluent Spanish you'll probably find it a lot easier!) I paid cash up front so I knew exactly what I needed to pay and didn't have to give bank accounts and worry about direct debit; if I wanted to join for a year they might have wanted more information. Though as I mentioned in the post, they seemed pretty casual with the paperwork compared to other countries. You seem to be in luck as far as pilates classes are concerned - check out their website. I hope that this helps - if you want any more information about Buenos Aires let me know.
